Dancer
Alicia Steeves is a queer Canadian artist based in Paris. She began her formal training at Alberta Ballet School’s full-time program in 2016, graduating in 2019. She went on to obtain her BFA in ballet and choreography from Marymount Manhattan College, receiving the Gold Key achievement in 2023.
She spent the beginning of her career based in New York City, and is now currently based in Paris. She is a Sidra Bell Dance New York fellow and has worked with Sidra Bell Dance Company, Glenda Gheller, Sofia Nappi, Attic Projects, Joy Alpureto Ritter, Guy Shomroni, Mark Caserta, and Jenn Freeman.
She has contributed to a range of interdisciplinary and performance projects including a commission for Derek Fordjour presented at the Petzel Gallery, the creation and production of Communion in collaboration with Immanuel Wilkins, teaching students at MOVE|NYC| and the Joffrey Ballet School, and RETURN TO FORM, an immersive archival installation and performance at the Greenburgh Public Library.
As a performer, she has danced at festivals and venues including ArtBath, Dock 11 Theater, Candy Box Dance Festival, PhysFest, the Hewitt Gallery of Art, Body Artifacts, Green Space, and the Fluid Festival.
